Sand to Snow

ROUTE

Riding the National Parks of Western USA

Are you dreaming of a road trip through the USA? Then you probably have a similar route in mind. San Francisco, Yosemite, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley –  we visited some of the world's most famous landscapes - on electric bikes. They allowed us to not only discover the great national parks but also the highlights between the highlights. Places just as spectacular and yet, we hardly met a soul there.

We started at North America’s leading bicycle event, the Sea Otter Classic, in Monterey on April 15, 2016.  In 10 weeks we crossed California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Colorado until we reached Denver in June after 5,000 kilometers (3,100 miles) of cycling.

Satelite Maps

Both maps show our route as it was logged by two InReach satellite devices. One was always with the riders and the other one with the support crew in the car. The devices allowed us to communicate whenever we had no telephone signal or internet which often happened for several days in a row.

The upper map shows the route of both - the riders (blue) and the support vehicle (red) from May 1, 2016, as this map was not available before. (Click on map for more info).

The map on the left shows the route from the start in Monterey of both - the riders (brown) and the support car (purple). Click on the map to enlarge and then on the +symbol at the finish mark to display the route.
